On Eid al-Fitr, Taliban leader Akhundzada criticized the international community for their criticism of Taliban rule.
Taliban's supreme leader, Hibatullah Akhundzada, made a rare public appearance on Eid al-Fitr, criticising the international community for their criticism of Taliban rule. Akhundzada, who assumed leadership in 2016 and guided the movement back to power in 2021, has remained largely secluded and governs through decrees. In a 35-minute audio address, he accused countries involved in the US-led invasion of Afghanistan of continuing to target the nation with "propaganda" and "evil tactics."
