10-year-old Idris Lumb and his family rescued a live octopus from Llandudno beach, North Wales, using an extendable dog lead as the tide went out and seagulls surrounded the creature. They carefully placed the octopus on the lead and threw it into the sea, allowing the creature to swim away. The family believes the octopus was a rare horned or curled species native to the northeast Atlantic.
