59-year-old Christchurch publican, Mark Cini, pleaded guilty to stealing $180,000 in grant funding, directing it to sports groups he controlled. Cini, the venue manager of Robbies Riccarton, submitted false quotes and got employees to sign grant applications on behalf of recipients between 2018-2020. He faces 39 charges, including forgery, theft by person in a special relationship, and dishonestly using a document.
