2024: UN Special Rapporteur on Indigenous Peoples, Francisco Calí Tzay, visits Nelson to assess Nelson Tenths case litigation against the Crown.

On April 9, 2024, UN Special Rapporteur on Indigenous Peoples, Francisco Calí Tzay, will visit Nelson to learn about the Nelson Tenths case and ongoing litigation against the Crown. Tzay will be briefed on the case's international law breach implications, its regional, national, and global significance, and tour sites related to the case. Professor Claire Charters, Manutaki | Director, Te Puna Rangahau o te Wai Ariki, will attend the visit alongside Tzay.
