Cannes Film Festival announces that George Lucas will receive an honorary Palme d'Or at the closing ceremony of the 77th festival on May 25. Lucas, creator of Star Wars and Indiana Jones franchises, said the festival has always held a special place in his heart. Previous recipients of the honorary award include Harrison Ford, Michael Douglas, Tom Cruise, Forest Whitaker and Jodie Foster.
