Philippines' Meralco lowers April electricity rate to P10.9518/kWh due to reduced generation and transmission charges.
Philippines' largest power distributor, Meralco, has announced a nearly P1 per kilowatt-hour drop in electricity rate for April, taking it to P10.9518 per kWh from P11.9397 in March, due to reduced generation and transmission charges. The drop is attributed to lower costs from Independent Power Producers (IPP) and Power Supply Agreements (PSA), partly due to non-use of liquefied natural gas (LNG) by some IPPs. The year-to-date adjustment stands at a net decrease of P0.3066 per kWh, leading to lower electricity bills for residential customers.
