Leo Varadkar has officially resigned as Taoiseach of Ireland, with Simon Harris set to be the youngest leader in the country's history. Varadkar, who led a three-party coalition government, announced his resignation as both Fine Gael leader and Taoiseach last month, citing personal and political reasons. He will remain in a caretaker capacity until Harris is appointed by President Michael D Higgins.
