King Charles III receives first UK banknotes with his portrait, presented by Bank of England, for circulation on 5th June 2024.

King Charles III was presented with the UK's first banknotes featuring his portrait by Bank of England representatives at Buckingham Palace. The Bank of England has never changed the image of the British monarch on a banknote before, with King Charles' mother, Queen Elizabeth II, being the first to appear on a note in 1960. The new £5, £10, £20 and £50 notes featuring King Charles' portrait will enter circulation on 5th June 2024.
