Kansas City officer injured, suspect shoots during traffic stop, suspect taken into custody.
A Kansas City police officer was injured during a traffic stop for suspected impairment near 46th and Benton. As officers attempted to place the driver in custody, the suspect gained access to a firearm and shot the officer. The injured officer was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The suspect has been taken into custody and Crime Scene Investigators are processing the scene to gather evidence.
