Illinois Governor JB Pritzker appointed State Senator Ann Gillespie as the new Acting Director of the Illinois Department of Insurance, succeeding Dana Popish Severinghaus who will step down on April 15th. Gillespie, with experience in health care law and policy, sponsored a bill to create a state-based health insurance marketplace. The Department of Insurance regulates insurance companies and serves as a resource for consumers.
