From May 1, Mumbai's BMC imposes double property tax on shops without Marathi nameplates and revokes licenses for non-Marathi illuminated signboards.
Mumbai's Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) announced that from May 1, shops and establishments without Marathi nameplates will have to pay double property tax. Additionally, licenses for illuminated signboards that do not have Marathi lettering will be revoked, and a new registration will be required. The new policy is in line with the Supreme Court's directive and the Maharashtra Shops and Establishments Rules.
