20 coal mines are expected to become operational by year-end, with 7 blocks from state-owned Coal India and 3 from Singareni Collieries Company Ltd contributing an additional 100MT in 3-4 years. This aligns with India's peak power demand projected to exceed 400GW by 2030. The country recently surpassed 1 billion tonnes of coal and lignite production in FY24 and aims to eliminate coal imports by 2025-26.
