Bogota imposes water restrictions due to critically low reservoir levels caused by El Niño.
Bogota, Colombia's capital, is facing water restrictions due to critically low reservoir levels, attributed to a lack of rain caused by the El Niño climate phenomenon. Reservoir levels are at their lowest since the 1980s. The city has been divided into nine sectors, each experiencing a 24-hour water outage on an assigned day, in an effort to reduce household consumption by 11%. The restrictions will continue until water levels improve, with Mayor Carlos Fernando Galan emphasizing the need to address ongoing effects of climate change.
