37-bed mental health unit construction begins at Tamworth Hospital, part of $700M NSW mental health program, opens in 2025.
After seven years of community demand, construction begins on a new 37-bed mental health unit at Tamworth Hospital, replacing the existing Banksia Unit. The project, delayed due to scope changes and the addition of an adolescent & children's treatment center, is part of the $700M Statewide Mental Health Infrastructure Program in NSW. Set to open in late 2025, the state partners with Melbourne-based Hansen Yuncken, aiming to provide a modern, supportive environment & job opportunities for locals.
