York Minster's new Centre of Excellence for Heritage Skills and Estate Management receives a £500,000 donation from the Garfield Weston Foundation. This is the largest philanthropic gift granted by a charitable foundation towards the Minster's work. The Centre will improve productivity in restoration work, retain traditional craft skills, support young people, and provide residential facilities for apprentices and trainees.
