The Supreme Court of India reinstated Sattai Durai Murugan's bail despite derogatory remarks against Tamil Nadu's Chief Minister MK Stalin.

The Supreme Court of India has reinstated the bail granted to Tamil Nadu YouTuber 'Sattai' Durai Murugan, who faced accusations of making derogatory remarks against Chief Minister MK Stalin in 2021. The court observed that not everyone who makes allegations on social media should be imprisoned, questioning the potential consequences if such action were taken before elections. The bench, composed of justices Abhay S Oka and Ujjal Bhuyan, also dismissed the Tamil Nadu government's request to impose a condition on Sattai to avoid making scandalous remarks while on bail. The court reversed the Madras High Court's decision to cancel Sattai's bail, as he had violated an undertaking given to the court regarding derogatory remarks against Stalin.
