South Africa seeks business assistance to create an office that will facilitate the entry of private operators into its largest rail network for the first time. The Department of Transport sent a letter to Business Unity South Africa (Busa) asking for help in setting up a private-sector participation office, and support for concessioning and investment in freight and passenger networks. The aim is to involve the private sector in reviving the struggling rail industry.
