IIT Madras has established a research foundation, IITM Research Foundation (IITMRF), to boost patents, technology commercialization, and global presence for startups originating from the institute's ecosystem. The foundation will create access to global markets, capital, and funding for research and innovation, and help scale the institute's academic programs through university collaborations and industry partnerships. IITMRF's first CEO, Thirumalai Madhav Narayan, has over 37 years of experience in business strategy for technology multinationals.
