Australia has seen a rise in genetically modified (GM) food approval, with three GM crops currently grown (cotton, canola, and safflower) and more crops like wheat, sugarcane, banana, and barley in development. In just one generation, the nation has overcome initial skepticism and fears around GM crops, with NSW and South Australia lifting their bans on GM crops a few years ago. Tasmania remains withholding approval.
