24-year-old Arizona Diamondbacks shortstop Geraldo Perdomo is set to undergo surgery on his torn meniscus in his right knee on Monday, with an expected recovery time of six to eight weeks. Perdomo, an All-Star in 2023, will be replaced by rookie Blaze Alexander during his absence. Kevin Newman from Triple-A Reno has also been recalled and will likely start against left-handers in a platoon with Jace Peterson.
