A firefighter, Gerald Bates, was killed and Tammy Williams, 41, was taken into custody following a standoff in Jackson after a wellness check on Bates turned into a domestic dispute. Williams barricaded herself inside the home, resulting in a SWAT team's intervention, tear gas, and forced entry. A dog inside the home had to be euthanized due to aggression towards law enforcement.
