To make room on their 40-man roster for Speas, they've designated right-hander Zach Jackson for assignment. Speas, 26, made his MLB debut with the Texas Rangers last season, posting a 5.08 ERA in Triple-A and a 4.50 ERA in six relief appearances with the White Sox this spring.
