Northern Ireland's Infrastructure Minister, John O'Dowd, has dismissed the idea of introducing domestic water charges to tackle NI Water's funding deficit, which is affecting economic development. Instead, O'Dowd called for a collaborative approach involving the Executive, Assembly, and adequate funding to deliver essential services. The cost of improving Belfast's drainage and sewage system has increased from £1.4bn to £2.1bn.
