Mount Sinai-led study reveals different outcomes of inter-atrial shunts in heart failure patients with reduced vs. preserved ejection fraction.

Mount Sinai-led study finds heart failure patients with reduced ejection fraction may benefit from inter-atrial shunts, while those with preserved ejection fraction may face harm. The RELIEVE-HF trial was the first to analyze the impact of inter-atrial shunts in patients with both reduced and preserved left ventricular ejection fraction, and the first to show different outcomes in these groups. The findings were announced at the American College of Cardiology Scientific Sessions.
