India Meteorological Department (IMD) is utilizing AI and machine learning to enhance weather forecasts, according to Director General Mrutyunjay Mohapatra. A dedicated expert team has been formed within the IMD and the Ministry of Earth Sciences to spearhead AI-based tool development. Collaborations with esteemed institutions such as IITs and IIITs are ongoing to leverage AI and machine learning expertise.
