Uganda receives $1.1m anti-malarial drug donation from China to combat malaria epidemic.
Uganda has received a $1.1m anti-malarial drug donation from China, which the country's Health Minister Jane Ruth Aceng says will be instrumental in curbing the epidemic in the East African nation. Malaria cases in Uganda rose last year, spreading to more than half of the country's districts. This donation is part of the medical and health program under the Nine Programs initiated at the Eighth Ministerial Conference of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC). The two countries have a long history of cooperation in the health sector, with China dispatching medical teams to Uganda since 1983.
