11 students were injured when a charter bus carrying University of South Carolina students experienced a tire blowout on I-10 in Mississippi. The bus was transporting 56 students from the university's Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity to a formal event in New Orleans. The driver was ejected from the bus during the incident, but a student passenger took control and stopped the vehicle. Nine students were transported to a local hospital, while two were airlifted to a New Orleans Level 1 trauma center.
