2024 Q1: China's smartphone output rises 31.3% YOY to 172 million, driven by new domestic models.
In the first two months of 2024, China's smartphone output rose by 31.3% year-on-year to reach 172 million units, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. Domestic smartphone manufacturers introduced new models, driving innovation in the industry. The ministry aims to accelerate progress in key areas such as communication equipment, smart hardware, and lithium-ion batteries, and plans to make 5G mobile phone shipments account for over 85% of China's total mobile phone market in 2024. Additionally, the value-added industrial output of major companies in China's electronic information manufacturing sector increased by 14.6% year-on-year since the beginning of the year.
