Extinction Rebellion co-founder Roger Hallam and two other climate activists escaped jail time after being found guilty of conspiring to fly drones near London's Heathrow Airport in protest of expansion plans in September 2019. The trio received suspended sentences of two years each and were ordered to complete unpaid community work. Their aim was to shut down the airport to draw attention to their opposition of the construction of a third runway.
