China's coastal bulk freight index remained flat in March 2024, as per data from the Shanghai Shipping Exchange (SSE). The composite index for coastal bulk freight, measuring transportation costs, stood at 961.23. The sub-index for grain increased by 2.9%, while crude oil and coal followed. However, refined oil fell 1.1% and metal ore dipped by 0.9%. The index was initiated in 2001 under the Ministry of Transport's guidance.
