Central Railway earned a record-breaking Rs 300 crore in fines during the 2023-2024 financial year, surpassing its set revenue target, due to 46.26 lakh cases of ticketless or irregular travel. The Mumbai division led with revenue collection of Rs 115.29 crore. The railway's success in combating ticketless travel is attributed to its comprehensive approach to ticket checking, including 22 dedicated Ticket Checking Staff and two Women Ticket Examiners, across all train services.
