Zambia plans to increase copper output to 1 million tons by 2026, driven by mine expansions.
Zambia aims to increase its copper output to 1 million tons by 2026, driven by investments in expanding existing mines like First Quantum Minerals' Kansanshi mine and Barrick's Lumwana mine. Copper production has been stagnant at 700k-880k tons for over a decade. Zambia's Finance Minister Situmbeko Musokotwane expects the target to be met, although a delay by up to two years is possible.
