BBC Radio 4 presenter Garry Richardson, known for his 33-year tenure on the Today programme, announced his departure after 50 years with the BBC. Richardson, who joined in 1974 as a junior researcher, will sign off on September 9, marking his 50th year with the broadcaster. BBC Director-General Tim Davie called Richardson a "legendary presenter", and Today editor Owenna Griffiths said it was a privilege to work with him.
