Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers has signed a bipartisan bill into law, requiring K-12 schools to teach Asian American and Hmong American histories, adding these to the existing curriculum that already includes Black, Hispanic, and Native American histories. The move aims to promote greater awareness and understanding of Hmong and Asian American histories, cultures, and traditions, and follows a reported increase in hate crimes against Asian Americans nationally. Wisconsin has the third-largest Hmong population in the United States.
