Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia pledges to transform Ghana into a pharmaceutical hub, boosting local production.
Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, New Patriotic Party's (NPP) flagbearer, has pledged to make Ghana a pharmaceutical hub in West Africa by providing financial support and incentives to the pharmaceutical industry to manufacture medicines locally, under his administration. Currently, about 70% of Ghana's medicine supply is imported, with only 30% manufactured locally. Dr. Bawumia promised to implement policy frameworks to make the industry buoyant and beneficial to Ghanaians.
