Tasmania's MONA FOMA festival cancelled due to expansion costs and founder's desire for permanence.

After 16 years, Tasmania's Museum of Old and New Art (MONA) has cancelled its summer festival, MONA FOMA, due to the high cost of expanding MONA in Hobart's northern suburbs and founder David Walsh's desire for more permanence. This follows the cancellation of multiple music festivals in Australia, including Splendour in the Grass and over 25 events since 2022, according to the Australian Festival Association.
