A £209m new Highland prison in Inverness moves closer as construction contract with Balfour Beatty is signed by the Scottish Government. The new HMP Highland, set to be completed in 2026, will accommodate 200 prisoners, increasing capacity and providing a net-zero facility with improved education and health services to aid rehabilitation. The project will generate £60m in supply chain investment and create new jobs for the local area.
