A man (80s) and a woman (70s) died in a house fire in Cork city's Mayfield on April 4. Both bodies were recovered from the house after the fire was brought under control by emergency services. Gardaí are investigating the cause of the fire after the alarm was raised by neighbours. The bodies have been moved to the mortuary at Cork University Hospital for post-mortems, and the Cork city coroner has been informed.
