Pakistan's Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has elected Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman as its new emir for a five-year term. Over 45,000 members, including 6,000 women, participated in the voting process, with nearly 82% of the party members exercising their right. The outgoing chief, Sirajul Haq, held the position since 2014. Hafiz Naeem, a civil engineer by profession and also an environmentalist, will take over the leadership role from April 2024 to April 2029.
