Ohio River flood at moderate stage reaches Patterson Field, but no damage to turf due to two-way valve and field acting as drainage basin.
Patterson Field faced its first flood test as Ohio River waters reached moderate flood stage levels. Despite 4-6 inches of water on the field, no damage was reported to the turf. The two-way valve, designed to prevent backflow, successfully kept the river from harming the field. East Liverpool schools Superintendent Jonathan Ludwig said the entire field acted as a drainage basin and no turf displacement was observed.
