NHS prescription charges in England rise by 25p to £9.90 and PPCs increase by 2.59% from May 1.

NHS prescription charges in England are set to rise by 25p to £9.90 from May 1, along with a 2.59% increase in the cost of prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs). The Department of Health and Social Care announced that almost nine in ten items are available for free on the NHS, and numerous exemptions are available for low-income individuals, seniors, and those with specific medical conditions. Critics, including Community Pharmacy England's CEO, Janet Morrison, have described the move as a "tax on the vulnerable" during the cost of living crisis.
