NCDRC dismisses Indian government's appeal against Nestle India over Maggi noodles unfair trade practices.
The National Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission (NCDRC) has dismissed the Indian government's appeal against Nestle India regarding unfair trade practices related to Maggi noodles. The government had previously demanded Rs 285 crore in compensation and Rs 35,541 crore in punitive damages, alleging that Nestle had risked the health and well-being of millions of consumers to increase profits. However, subsequent tests confirmed the safety of Maggi noodles, allowing them to return to store shelves five months after the initial ban.
