Kentucky Governor Beshear vetoes nuclear energy legislation due to board member appointment concerns.

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear has vetoed legislation promoting nuclear energy in the state, due to concerns about the method of selecting board members for the Kentucky Nuclear Energy Development Authority (KyNEDA). Beshear criticized the process as it would allow many voting members to be designated by private sector groups, bypassing the appointment authority of the governor or other state constitutional officers. The bill's sponsor, Republican state Sen. Danny Carroll, plans to urge lawmakers to override the veto.
