India aims to increase its hydroelectric power potential by 50% to 67 GW by 2031-32, targeting a rise from the present 42 GW. This includes completing 15 GW of hydroelectric power projects under construction and developing Pumped Storage Projects (PSPs) with an aggregate capacity of 2.7 GW currently under construction and an additional 50 GW in various stages of development. The Indian Meteorological Department has predicted a favorable monsoon in the fiscal year 2024-25, which is expected to contribute to improved water reservoir levels.
