India has allowed the export of essential items, including rice, sugar, and onions, to the Maldives despite strained diplomatic relations between the two countries. The government has set specific limits on exports of eggs, potatoes, onions, rice, wheat flour, sugar, dal, stone aggregate, and river sand for the 2024-25 fiscal year under the bilateral trade agreement between the countries. The move comes as the Maldives government requested assistance to meet increasing demand for essential commodities.
