In Ellsworth County, vandals attempted to steal copper by cutting down power poles with a chainsaw. However, these poles had no copper, and the power lines were not electrified at the time. Western Cooperative Electric Association reported they have seen an increase in damages in the area and urged residents to report any suspicious activity near power equipment for their own safety.
