24-year-old South African footballer Luke Fleurs was shot dead in a car hijacking at a petrol station in Johannesburg. Fleurs, a member of the popular Kaizer Chiefs team, was waiting to be served when he was approached by two armed men who ordered him to exit his vehicle. The attackers reportedly shot him once in the upper body before fleeing the scene with his car. Kaizer Chiefs described Fleurs' death as "tragic" and said police were handling the matter.
