27-year-old Dublin woman Katie Doyle died from pulmonary embolism three days after being discharged from Beaumont Hospital with an anxiety diagnosis. Despite showing signs of a possible pulmonary embolism, the hospital's protocol of carrying out a D-Dimer blood test, which detects blood clots, was not followed in her case. A verdict of medical misadventure has been recorded in her death.
