U.S. Steel partners with CarbonFree to build a $150m SkyCycle carbon capture plant at Gary Works steel mill. The 20-year deal commits to capturing and mineralizing 50,000 metric tons of CO2 annually, equivalent to emissions from 12,000 cars. Set to begin construction in 2024, the initiative supports U.S. Steel's goal of cutting greenhouse gas intensity by 20% by 2030 and achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
