Researchers at the University of Exeter have developed an AI system, known as VespAI, to detect and identify invasive Asian hornets. The automated system attracts hornets to a monitoring station, where an overhead camera captures standardised images. VespAI can identify the species with over 99% accuracy, enabling authorities to mount a rapid response to prevent further invasions.
